Legal Qualifications

Axel Bormann studied law in Berlin, Edinburgh and Bucharest.  He worked as a research assistant for the Institute for East-European Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin (Law and Economics Departments) as well as at the Inter-University Centre at the Freie Universität Berlin/ Universität Split.

Since the conclusion of his legal clerkship at centers in Bucharest, Split, and Berlin, he has worked as a research consultant at the Institut für Ostrecht München where he is responsible for legal matters concerning Romania and the Republic of Moldova.  His dissertation “Der Europäische Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte in der Rechtsordnung Rumäniens” (“The European Court for Human Rights in the Romanian Legal System”) is close to completion.

For many years, Axel Bormann has supervised engagements that concern Romania and the Republic of Moldova.  His main focus is in advising companies as they enter the market for the first time and during their continued activity, but he also covers the legal enforcement of his clients’ claims in Romania.  In addition, he is responsible for legal representation of Romanian companies (or companies with business there) in terms of negotiations and litigations in Germany.  The development of these increasingly important areas of activity is being pursued by dtb rechtsanwälte’ recently opened office in Bucharest.
